My name is Emily Dawson. I live in Peoria, Illinois. I have been married for 15 years to Matthew, and have three children, James, Ayden, and Thaddeus.

I work as a Special Education Life Skills Teacher for Peoria Public Schools. I have been in Special Education/General Education Teacher for about 16 years and I love my job! I love teaching life and job skills outside the box. We run a coffee shop out of my classroom, the VonSteuBEAN Jolt Café, where my students learn the different aspects of the coffee business. They also learn communication skills, money management skills, and customer service skills.

I’m also addicted to tweeting. I was introduced to the Help A Teacher website/Facebook page in the summer of 2019. A few twitter friends and I noticed the need for a Twitter presence and offered to help. We became the HAT Twitter girls. After trending the first tweeting weekend, we were hooked and Help A Teacher tweeted it’s way in to my heart.
